Cyanotype tote bag - Horse Chestnut design

An original cyanotype (sun printed) printed tote bag. 100% natural cotton measuring approximately 40 cm x 35 cm with long handles.

Cyanotype is a photographic process where two chemicals, when mixed, become light sensitive and can be used to create photographs using sunlight. 

In this design plant material was used to mask the area and those parts remained pale whilst the other areas developed a darker blue colour.

This bag uses wet cyanotype techniques where the area is made wet and treated with acid or alkali liquids to create different effects.
